A Quick Crochet Catch Up.

happy crochet blankets

I’ve been doing a load of crochet over the past couple of weeks. It’s time to put up a few pictures I reckon.

green diamonds crochet blanket with pink picot edging.

The latest blankets are a quick diamond blanket and an equally speedy crochet granny square. Both are baby sized. Both use stylecraft special dk. I like making baby blankets, they can be finished in a few days.

Gotta love a granny square.

I have so many colour combinations and/or new stitches I want to try. The waiting would take forever if I were to make them all massive. These ones are a lovely size. My youngest boy still uses his. He can’t sleep without Blankey.

New crochet blankets

I’ve got quite a few stashed away now. I have to wait until next month before they go on Etsy though. I’m going to have a craft stall at the school summer fete. I feel that I ought to have some blankets there even though I don’t think they’ll sell. People like to buy small things for a couple of quid rather than bigger, pricier items.

A trio of crochet blankets.

If they don’t sell, I still have others that I really should get on Etsy now. I don’t know why I’m not doing it. Meh.

crochet coasters

I’ve made these coaster type things using Rico Creative cotton in aran. I want to get some cotton dk next but I have to use up the existing stash first.

Little crochet coasters

I only have scraps left, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make more than one of each colour.

crochet flowers

These flowers are made using scraps of all different things. Some are merino, some have cashmere in them, others are less smart. Not sure what these will turn into yet. We shall see. The rose pattern is Attic 24’s May Rose and the other is by Crochet with Raymond. I really like seeing the 4ply ones next to the aran jobs. Same pattern, completely different effect.

crochet bows

I started making bows using a pattern from the book Geek Chic Crochet by Nicki Trench (about £3 in The Works). I soon got bored of those. They were taking too long so I started using fewer stitches to get them smaller and I used trebles so I didn’t need as many rows. I’m thinking brooches?

Making crochet hearts.

I made lots of hearts yesterday. The original pattern is found via Attic 24 and then her May rose is used too.

Crochet heart and flower

And that’s the sort of thing I’ve been up to. It’s not all my cup of tea but I hope it’ll appeal to others. What I’m really hankering after is a good shawl. And some embroidery. And I wouldn’t mind a snooze. :p

  1. Love all these colourful makes! I’m also making a simple granny square blanket at the moment which is a satisfying quick project.

    1. You don’t have to think much when making a granny square. Although, I’ve had to retrain myself to start in different corners each time a new round is started. It almost gets rid of the twist!

  2. Super blankets! I could look at them all day! What is that lovely green colour on the green blanket? It’s so beautiful, I’d love to make something with it x

    1. Thank you! It’s Stylecraft Special dk and it’s just called Green. I bought loads thinking I was going to make a giant green blanket. I changed my mind and have been trying to use it up since.

      1. Is the edge on the green one Fondant? Green and pink look amazing together and you’ve chosen so well. Also, sorry for the 20 questions, is the edge on the granny blanket the same Green colour as the green blanket? I think I might make a green and pink scarf! X

  3. My goodness you have been busy! I adore the colours you use in your crochet blankets, as others have said, the green shades are gorgeous.
I think you’ll do well at the craft fair…even though people do like to spend 3 or 4 pounds, it’s still good to take along your blankets. They are eye-catching & will draw people to your stall. They would draw me over anyway!

    1. That’s a good point actually. Those blankets could be seen from a mile away! I’m itching to make more but concentrating in the small stuff for the next couple of weeks. And I’m running out of yarn.

  4. I’m crazy about your colour choices, particularly the green and pink.
I’ve stuck Attic24 May roses on to lots of hats and bags. I like making them and they always seem to look good. I hope business is going well for you.:-)

  5. They are gorgeous, I love all your colour combinations! The blankets are beautiful, I only got into making blankets once mine were older, I wish I’d been able to make them some colourful baby blankets for the pushchair. Thank you for linking up to #craftingismytherapy!

    1. Thank you! I’m glad I made him one. My eldest boy didn’t have one as a baby as I didn’t know how to crochet then. He’s attached to an Ikea blanket instead :/

  6. Fantastic work, beautiful colours on the coasters. I really enjoy a bit of variety in my crochet, I get bored if I don’t have several different projects either on the go or on my to do list. 🙂
