Loving that bag – I like the stitching on the handles and the jolly colours. It looks great. The little kitty bag is so cute as well.
My forties were my best decade. Only birthday that threw me was 30 and that was fine so all a bit pointless me being worried. For some weird reason I find getting older quite funny in its own way. I thought I was going to be over the hill by 38, but no, it didn’t happen! Am early fifties now and it’s all about the same as it ever was, give or take a line or two.

I love a chart if there is one; if an either or situation I’ll take words but can do just charts if not too complicated (knitting charts now are just horrible). I find words explain bits charts can’t quite let you know about and that charts can give great shorthand or clarity to let you know you are understanding the words properly. Patterns that have both are great but not expected. Stitch counts do come in handy sometimes for sure but I hardly ever use them personally.
Photos are not necessary in the usual way of things and can be as clear as mud. Prefer a diagram if necessary (as they can pin point what photos often can’t) but it usually isn’t. Part and parcel of crochet is learning how to decipher patterns. Designers are only required to give standard forms – anything else is a kindness and a choice and I wouldn’t expect it.
I heard very similar stories about life post 40! Seems I’m at the only age where the worry sets in and then it’ll pass pretty quickly. I’ve had lots of positive affirmations and not one negative comment about it, which has been really reassuring.
I’m with you on the crochet patterns. That’s kind of my opinion too but we’re all different and I want to please as many people as possible if I’m to sell them as good, solid patterns.
